YOUR EARTH-IN-SPACE

ADVENTURE GREETINGS...

The Earth-In-Space Birthday Card

After the fall equinox we fall farther and farther
into our Earth's shadow. And this makes
something wonderful possible...

We celebrate Halloween because of where
we are in our orbit at this time of year.
But why celebrate with witches,
ghosts and jack o' lanterns?

We decorate trees in December because of where
we are in our orbit at this time of the year.
And the star at the top of our tree
isn't just any old star...

WHY WE KISS UNDER THE MISTLETOE ON NEW YEAR'S EVE
Your face will be as red as Rudolph's nose when you see why...

Why do we use pagan fertility symbols--rabbits and eggs--to celebrate Easter?
And why does the date of Easter change from one year to the next?

These things have to do with
where we are in our yearly orbit around the sun
and where our moon is in her monthly (moon-thly) orbit around us.

Rabbits and eggs help us celebrate the fertility of the Easter
point in our cyclical dance with the sun and moon.

SNARE THE SOLSTICE SUN--AND REAP THE BENEFITS!

Like Hawaii's demi-god, Maui, you can "snare the sun"
--or "hitch the sun," as the Incas told this story.

Cultures that never succeeded in doing this
didn't survive to tell us their story.

Luckily, our summer solstice makes
sun-snaring easier--and fun!

Your Earth Ride!

The earth beneath your feet is spinning you around its axis at 1,000 m.p.h.
while it's orbiting you around the sun at 1.63 million miles a day.

Thanks to this, the sun doesn't rise--you spin toward it!
Years don't come and go--you orbit through them!

Your body clocks are synchronized with our spinning planet,
so if you over-ride this motion by jet travel, you suffer
from the out-of-phase malaise we call jet lag.

yourself earth-riding,
